Implementing Security in Reports and Dashboards
This chapter will explain how you can secure reports and dashboards in Salesforce. As we discussed in the Chapter 2, Concepts and Permissions in Reports and Dashboards, each report and dashboard are stored in a folder, and the report and dashboard accessibilities are controlled by the folder that stores the report and dashboard--not by the report or dashboard itself.
We also discussed permissions related to reports and dashboards in the previous chapter. In this chapter, we will continue with permissions related to the reports and dashboards folder. There are many permissions available related to folders, for example, a user with certain permissions will be able to see all public folders, even if the username is not added in the folder. We'll go through all these scenarios.
By the end of this chapter, you will have gained a strong understanding of how to secure your reports and dashboards, and how to make sure that the reports and dashboards shared with your team are secure. As admin, you will become aware of the many types of permissions related to report and dashboard folders, and that these should not be enabled for each user.
The topics covered in this chapter are as follows:
- Private reports and dashboards
- Unfiled public reports
- Public reports and dashboards
- Report folder permissions
- Dashboard folder permissions
- Applying permissions
